Stoke Poges United Charity

Financial support for those in Stoke Poges and some parts of Slough

The Stoke Poges United Charity was set up to help people suffering hardship or distress or who are otherwise in need. Grants can be given to individuals or to organisations set up to help groups of people. Grants are usually fulfilled by the provision of goods, services or facilities for people in need.

Our grants

You might get a grant for:

  • Replacing kitchen appliances
  • Essential furniture, bedding, etc.
  • Essential clothing, including school uniform
  • Replacing a boiler
  • School trips
  • Help with costs of non-university courses
  • Equipment or tools needed for study or apprenticeships
  • Home adaptations, stair lifts, wheelchairs or aids for those with disability
  • Respite care to provide relief for carers
  • Help with travel costs and parking for hospital or care home visits

Any other needs can be considered. We may be able to help with debts, but advice should be sought first from Citizens Advice, Step Change or similar organisations.

Grants are offered on a one-off basis and do not affect any benefits you receive.

Money can be available very quickly if necessary, but we do not give cash.

Confidentiality is assured. Two trustees (representatives of the charity) would meet you or know your name. They will not pass your name to other trustees unless essential for making a payment.

Eligible area

Grants can be made to people living in Stoke Poges and parts of Slough (north of the A4 Bath Road, east of Farnham Road and west of Uxbridge Road) including Manor Park, Stoke Wards, Upton Lea and Wexham Court, as indicated by the shaded area within the boundary line on the map below.

Applying for a grant

First, please check that you live in the area covered by our charity, as outlined above.

We ask you to read some guidance notes before completing the online application form. The form asks for your personal information and for details of your circumstances to support your request. Anything you tell us will be kept strictly confidential.

When you have submitted your application, a trustee will contact you and will probably arrange to visit you.

If you would like to talk to someone before making your application, or if you would like a paper application form, please call Tracey on 07929 273003.
